Australian Red Cross EmergencyRedi Workshop

Get Emergency Ready: Free Workshop

In recent years, communities across NSW have experienced the devastating impacts of extreme weather—floods, bushfires, storms, and heatwaves have become more frequent and unpredictable. These events can strike with little warning, leaving people vulnerable and unprepared. But there is something you can do to stay safe and confident in the face of uncertainty.

Join us on Thursday 3 April 2025 for a free EmergencyRedi Workshop, presented by the Australian Red Cross as part of Help Nation, an NRMA Insurance initiative, and learn how to prepare yourself, your family, and your home for emergencies.

This interactive session is designed to equip you with practical tools and knowledge so you can:

  • Understand the risks of extreme weather in your area
  • Create an emergency plan tailored to your household
  • Know what to pack in an emergency kit
  • Build emotional resilience and stay calm in a crisis
  • Access reliable information and support when it matters most

Whether you’ve experienced a natural disaster first-hand or simply want to feel more prepared, this workshop is for everyone—because resilience starts with readiness.

Let’s face it—no one wants to think about disasters. But having a plan can make all the difference. This workshop is your opportunity to take action in a supportive, informative setting alongside others who care about protecting what matters most.

Location: The Place Charlestown Community Centre

Time: 10:00 am to 11:30am

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
