Great Mates - Helping Young Men Make Positive Connections

Off to an Amazing Start!

Our team was blown away by the energy and enthusiasm of our young participants who dove right into the games and activities and began making friends straight away.

Then at the end of each session every one of the boys gathered around and participated in a conversation with Laura from Well Education who engaged with them about Emotional Regulation and Emotional Awareness—and all the boys even learned how to make their very own stress ball.

As the weeks progress we will continue to discuss important topics in fun and engaging ways that
allows the boys to learn about crucial subjects such as resilience, masculinity and self confidence, while still socialising with one another, engaging and participating in conversation and having an awesome time! We look forward to seeing how the boys tackle the remaining sessions and how the friendships they have developed throughout the program continue to grow and thrive.

Thanks to the NSW Government this program is entirely FREE and will continue to run each term. Our next session will begin on the 27th of July for ages 12+ so reserve yourself a spot by contacting  youthprograms1@theplacechalrestown.org.au or by giving one of our friendly staff a call on (02) 4032 5500.

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
