NSW Seniors Festival 2019

Have A Go at The Place

Be part of the biggest Seniors Festival in the Southern Hemisphere and Have A Go at The Place: Charlestown Community Centre during the 2019 NSW Seniors Festival. The Place, located at the corner of Frederick and Pearson Streets in Charlestown, NSW, will be offering seniors the opportunity to try three different activities over three days in celebration of the NSW Seniors Festival.

The 2019 theme, “Love Your Life” encourages all seniors, to live active, healthy and social lives and we will be offering a range of free activities for everyone. You can try one or try them all!

New Body New Life at 9:15am on Monday, 18th February 2019 offers an upbeat exercise class for the agile senior and is suitable for beginners and active participants.

On Wednesday, 20th February 2019, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm we have a Heart Healthy seated movement class for those with mobility challenges or just looking to get the heart pumping.

Qigong, a Tai Chi based exercise, gentle movement class will be offered on Friday, 22nd February 2019 at 10:30am.

All activities are free to attend, and light refreshments will be served. The activities are part of The Place’s commitment to help the region’s seniors to participate and engage in local community life – we want you to just Have A Go!

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
