A Unique and Fun Experience of Learning how to Communicate Visually Using Auslan
Date: Wednesday evenings from 16th October - 27th November
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Cost: $220.00
Sign Language 1 offers students the unique and fun experience of learning how to communicate visually using Auslan (Australian sign language), the native language of the Australian Deaf community. Sign Language 1 is delivered via face-to-face study in a classroom environment.
By the end of Sign Language 1, students will be able to:
- Greet others and introduce yourself
- Give and request personal details such as phone numbers and addresses
- Count in Auslan
- Fingerspell in Auslan
- Ask and answer simple questions (using “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, etc.)
- Communicate practical vocabulary including colours, days of the week and family
- Express agreement and disagreement
- Use visual-gestural communication strategies
- Identify the Deaf Community
- Explain effective ways of communicating with deaf people

Tuesday Club Inclusive Connections: Connection That Lasts a Lifetime

We’ll also host a special community recognition event celebrating our long-standing groups and the incredible individuals who have helped shape The Place and what it is today. Enjoy food, music, entertainment and connection as we come together to celebrate our diverse and vibrant community.
