Be Connected

Be Connected - Providing Digital Literacy Training for Seniors

Capacity Builders are ambassadors of the Be Connected Network and are delivering innovative outreach projects to build the Network and engage Australians over 50 to learn digital skills. Each Capacity Builder has a unique approach to engage their community with the support of Good Things Foundation.

The Place would like to invite any organisations working with seniors to get involved in delivering the Be Connected program. We offer guidance and ongoing support in accessing training grants, planning and delivering training as well as an ongoing technology support group for learners.

FREE digital technology training is also available at The Place for anyone over 50 years old. The training is offered in small groups to allow personalised learning and one on one coaching.

Dates: Wednesdays, 9:30am – 12:15pm

Call 02 4032 5500 or email programs@theplacecharlestown.org.au to book or for further information about getting involved as a Be Connected Network Partner or to join a training class.

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
