Dancing Through the Decades

A FREE, All Ages, Accessible Community Event

Date: Saturday 26th September 2026

Time: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Cost: FREE!

Get ready to time travel through music and dance at Dancing Through the Decades! Join us for two hours of retro tunes, guided dancing and plenty of throwback fun as we travel back to two iconic decades.

We’ll kick off in the 1950s, with classic rock ’n’ roll and guided dancing led by John Waring from Newcastle 50’s Rock & Roll Club. Then we’ll jump forward to the 1980s, with Tina Moore from TMP Dance Studios leading the way through some fun 80s-inspired dancing.

Along with the guided sessions, there’ll be plenty of time for free dancing, giving you the chance to hit the dance floor, move to the music and dance however you like! Whether you love to dance, want to learn some new moves or simply enjoy the music and atmosphere, everyone is welcome to join in at their own pace.

Get into the spirit and come dressed in your favourite 50s or 80s-inspired outfit – think rock ’n’ roll, bold colours, big hair and plenty of retro flair!

Need a break from the dance floor? Our Breakout Activity Rooms will offer creative activities and quieter spaces for anyone who needs some time away from the music and action. There’ll also be delicious snacks and ice cream to enjoy throughout the evening.

This is a fun, free, all-ages and accessibility-friendly event, designed so everyone can feel welcome and included. Noise-cancelling headphones will be available upon request, and quieter breakout spaces provide another way to enjoy the event comfortably.

Grab your dancing shoes and come along for a fun-filled throwback through the decades!

Entry is FREE, but tickets are essential, get your Eventbrite ticket HERE or alternatively call us on (02) 4032 5500 to book your spot.

This event is proudly designed and coordinated by participants from our Place Based Abilities Program, promoting inclusivity and fun for all abilities.
