Exciting News: APDA Physie & Dance Classes Are Coming to The Place!

We are thrilled to announce that we have an exciting new activity for all ages joining The Place in 2025! The Australian Physie and Dance Association (APDA) is bringing its unique combination of dance and physie to our community. This inclusive program is open to people of all genders and ages, offering a supportive and social environment where fitness, mental well-being, and performance take center stage.


What is APDA? APDA combines dance and physie, focusing on movement, musicality, technique, flexibility, cardio, and strength. Participants will learn 4–6 choreographed routines annually, each designed to challenge and inspire. With professional choreographers and experienced teachers, APDA ensures that every class is entertaining, engaging, and rewarding.

  • Location: The Place Community Centre, Frederick St, Charlestown NSW 2290
  • Start Date: Classes began on Monday, February 10th, 2025 but there are several time slots available every day of the week!

2025 Timetable Highlights: Classes are available for various age groups and skill levels throughout the week, including sessions for juniors, seniors, mixed ladies, and elite performers. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to take your skills to the next level, APDA has something for everyone.


Meet the Talented team: The teaching team includes highly trained professionals, each bringing a passion for dance and physie. You’ll be in great hands with Miss Katelyn (Head Teacher), Miss Chloe (Seniors Teacher), Miss Cassidy (Seniors/Ladies Teacher), and Miss Maddie (Juniors Teacher).

About the Reclaiming My Place Project: Reclaiming My Place (RMP) is an innovative arts-based program developed by the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education (CEEHE) at the University of Newcastle. The program engages women who have lived experiences of gendered violence and interrupted education journeys, using creative arts to foster mindfulness, healing, relaxation, and pathways to lifelong learning.
