Miracle Babies NutureGroup

Supporting Families Beyond the Neonatal Unit

Date: Thursdays fortnightly (from 2nd April 2026)

Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cost: FREE

Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia’s leading not for profit organisation working to improve, support and enhance all lives impacted by a premature or sick birth. They believe prematurity and sickness at birth is a hidden and lifelong trauma that can be reduced through the courage, empathy and understanding of people who have experienced it. Because this journey needs more than medical care, it needs a community.

Miracle Babies Foundation is a community that families can turn to throughout their entire journey. Supporting families from pregnancy (NurtureLine and Nurture E Information Hub) to time spent in the Neonatal Unit (NurtureTime) to after discharge (NurtureGroup), and beyond - they are there every step of the way.

Miracle Babies Foundation NurtureGroup is a free play and support group, offering a safe and secure environment for children from birth to starting school, who have been impacted by a premature or sick birth with time in a neonatal unit or who have a prenatal anomaly, injury or condition diagnosed in the first 5 years of life resulting in ongoing medical challenges.

The Newcastle NurtureGroup offers local families a welcoming space to connect and feel supported. You’ll meet NurtureGroup Support Worker, Mackenzie, who understands the neonatal journey firsthand, as well as other families walking a similar path - while your children play and connect.

What to expect when families join:

  • A variety of toys to assist developmental play
  • Morning Tea
  • Other families you can chat with who have been through a similar experience
  • A clean environment at all our locations with the toys sanitized before the next session
  • Strict Wellness Policy in a safe and inclusive environment

Registration: Families attending for the first time will need to complete the NurtureGroup Registration Form on the Miracle Babies website HERE There’s no need to register again for future sessions.

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
