New Technology Opens up a World of Opportunities

COVID-19 has certainly had a major impact on our lives and has reminded us about the value and power of technology; allowing us to communicate via distance and stay connected.

This year we were incredibly grateful to receive funding through the Department of Communities and Justice, Social Sector Transformation Fund. This grant allowed us to be able to purchase new technology for our Centre, including three new interactive screens that our hirers can use. These screens, called ‘Maxhubs’ have an enormous range of capability and are perfect for things like online meetings, video calls, presentations, online collaborative activities as well as entertainment and fun.

They have a high quality display and sound with a range of useful features including a user-friendly interactive whiteboard, and they come at no extra cost for hirers to use. This technology opens up a world of opportunities for hirers and groups using our Centre and we can't wait to see all the wonderful ways they will be used to meet, connect, belong and grow.

We hope our community enjoys these new additions to our Centre. If you are interested in hiring one of our rooms and a Maxhub for your next activity or meeting contact us on (02) 4032 5500 or chat to our friendly reception staff.

This Neighbourhood Centre Week, we pay homage to the remarkable strength that emerges when diverse individuals come together for a shared purpose. Helen Keller's timeless words, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much," resonate deeply as we reflect on the power of unity and community. In communities across Australia, Neighbourhood and Community Houses and Centres (NCHCs) stand as the beating heart of local neighbourhoods. At these centres like ours, we strive to embody the essence of togetherness, bringing people from all walks of life together to connect, learn, and play. Through collaborative initiatives, inclusive programs, and shared spaces, we cultivate an environment where every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every member contributes to the vibrant mosaic of our shared community. To celebrate the value of our local community, join us for a warm cuppa and lively conversations at The Place on 14th May, from 10 am – 12 pm. Whether you're a longtime resident or new to the area, there's a place for you here! Discover the variety of programs and activities at The Place tailored to enrich every aspect of your life, from health and wellness initiatives to educational workshops and social gatherings. Come and experience The Place where people meet, connect, belong, and grow. Neighbourhood Centre Week is a time to celebrate the bonds that unite us and the spaces that nurture them. So, come on over, grab a cuppa, and let's build a stronger, more connected community together! Free light morning tea will be provided. To book your spot, please call us on 02 4032 5500, or email us at programsassistant@theplacecharlestown.org.au
