Welcome to a summer of music and dance at The Place Charlestown Community Centre. We're thrilled to present to you our Summer Sessions, a series of free events that promise to make your school holidays unforgettable. Here's your guide to the ultimate dance-filled experience:

 

Teen Takeover: Step Up & Dance Workshop for 12-15 Year Olds!

Hey teens, this one's tailor-made for you! Join our FREE dance workshop led by the fantastic TMP Dance Studio. You'll explore hip-hop grooves, funky moves, and more. It's a chance to learn new signature moves, enhance your coordination, flexibility, while enjoying teamwork in this dynamic 2-session workshop. Dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, and enjoy a supportive environment. Dance T-shirts, snacks and refreshments provided.

Silent Disco Extravaganza: Dance To Your Own Tunes!

Start the summer right with our epic FREE Silent Disco party for young people aged 12 – 24. Dance with your own set of wireless headphones, tuning into your preferred music channel. No worries about awkward dance moves or how loud the music is – in the silent realm, you're free to let loose, get loud and dance like nobody's watching. Neon lights, collective vibes, and unforgettable memories await! Refreshments and snacks provided.

Youth Takeover: Step Up & Dance Workshop for 16-24 Year Olds!

Our FREE dance workshop led by Dance for Fun Newcastle’s experienced instructor is your passport to the world of dance. From high-energy hip-hop to contemporary dance moves, there will be something for every musical taste. Join us for a 2-day workshop and embrace the joy of movement. No previous dance experience needed – just bring your enthusiasm and make sure you wear comfy clothes and shoes. Dance T-shirts, snacks and refreshments provided.

Are you a community service professional interested in exploring arts-based approaches to supporting women with lived experiences of gendered violence? Join a free Creative Networking Event for the Reclaiming My Place Healing & Recovery Project . When: Tuesday, May 13 Where: The Place, Charlestown Time: Drop in anytime between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM Whether you have 15 minutes or a couple of hours, feel free to pop in for a bit or stay for the whole session—whatever works for you! About the Reclaiming My Place Project: Reclaiming My Place (RMP) is an innovative arts-based program developed by the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education (CEEHE) at the University of Newcastle. The program engages women who have lived experiences of gendered violence and interrupted education journeys, using creative arts to foster mindfulness, healing, relaxation, and pathways to lifelong learning. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow community professionals, discover the transformative impact of creative approaches, and explore ways to support women on their healing journeys. 🔗 Want to know more?
