Welcome ReadyUp Skills!

Skill Development Programs for Young People

ReadyUp Skills are a wonderful new Disability Support Service and we’re very happy to have them as our new tenants at The Place!

ReadyUp Skills has been operating and supporting participants since February this year. Their program is designed for school leavers and young people aged 17 - 25 and as a SLES (School Leaver Employment Supports) provider they focus on real life skills. They provide individual and group supports that are outcome based with a strong focus on practical skill building through 'doing' rather than talking.

Ben Murphy is the Director of ReadyUp and has over 15 years experience in the Disability sector. He shares: “I'm excited about being based here and working closely with The Place to see some awesome community minded projects built to help both ReadyUp participants and the wider community.”

Ben and Jabe from ReadyUp want to make sure that participants’ funding is being used appropriately and if they can’t help, they will help people to source the right support for their particular needs.

A big welcome to Ben, Jabe and all ReadyUp participants and families, we are so happy to have you at The Place!

The Place is proud to be the first community organisation in NSW to take part in the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program, supporting more people in our community to get connected and build confidence online. Through the program, we helped allocate 30 refurbished laptops to local people in our community, including seniors, carers, people with disability and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants receive 12 months of free data, digital skills training and IT Support to help them make the most of their device. Delivered by NSW Telco Authority in partnership with WorkVentures and Good Things Australia, the NSW Device Bank Pilot Program is part of the NSW Government’s Digital Inclusion Strategy. The program helps bridge the digital divide by giving people access to the essential technology, connectivity and support needed in today’s digital world. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity for our local community and want to thank everyone who made it possible.
