You’re Invited: Digital Sisters Community Event

A Celebration of Culture, Connection, and Creativity

Join us on Thursday 20 June from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at The Place Charlestown Community Centre for a unique cultural celebration hosted with the inspiring women of our Digital Sisters program.

This free community event brings together food, storytelling, and digital empowerment in a beautiful display of learning and cultural exchange. As part of their final group challenge, a group of Syrian participants will be sharing their favourite traditional recipes—but with a special twist.

With the support of our program facilitators, the women have been using newly learned AI tools to write, edit, and translate their recipes into English. For many, this was the first time engaging with digital technologies in this way, and the result has been a powerful boost in confidence, creativity, and digital literacy.

Expect a table filled with delicious dishes, each accompanied by personal stories and flavours from home brought to life through a mix of tradition and technology.

Come along to:

  • Taste a range of traditional Syrian dishes
  • Hear from participants about their journey using AI and digital tools
  • Celebrate the power of culturally safe, women-led learning environments
  • Be part of a growing movement of community-led connection and inclusion

This is a free, open event – everyone is welcome!

Digital Sisters, proudly delivered by The Place Charlestown Community Centre with support from Good Things Foundation Australia, is more than a digital skills program. It’s a space for women to grow, lead, and connect across cultures, and this event is a celebration of that journey.

We can’t wait to share it with you.
