15 Years – 15 Stories of Belonging – Sahaja Yoga
Finding Stillness and Connection at The Place

Sahaja Yoga has quietly become a cherished part of the community at The Place, offering people an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with themselves in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Since 2016, the weekly sessions have provided a calm and peaceful space where participants can experience the gentle practice of Sahaja Yoga meditation — a holistic, organic form of meditation, bringing about life balance and harmony.
At the heart of these classes is the wonderful Marilyn, whose warmth, kindness and dedication has helped create a nurturing environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of experience or background. Her compassionate approach has made Sahaja Yoga at The Place not only a meditation class, but a meaningful community built on connection, support and shared wellbeing.
What makes Sahaja Yoga especially accessible is its commitment to remaining open to all. “Sahaja yoga meditation programs are free and they are always free" Marilyn shares. This philosophy reflects the spirit of generosity and inclusion that has shaped the program over the last 10 years, ensuring that anyone seeking peace, clarity or connection has a place to begin.
The sessions are restorative and grounding, cultivating a stronger sense of inner calm and emotional balance. Marilyn describes the positive effects:
“Through the practice of Meditation, we experience many health benefits. These include our physical aspects, mental health, emotional well-being and spiritual connection. As we continue to meditate, we are reducing or eliminating tensions, stress, anxiety, depression and worry.”
Beyond the personal benefits, Sahaja Yoga has also strengthened the social fabric of The Place community. The sessions provide a welcoming point of connection where people can gather, share experiences and support one another in a relaxed and inclusive setting.
In a fast-paced world, the continued presence of Sahaja Yoga at The Place serves as a reminder of the importance of stillness, reflection and community care. After 10 years, its impact continues to ripple through the lives of participants — creating moments of peace, connection and wellbeing that extend far beyond the meditation room.
